R&R Self-Care had the honour of attending the first ever, "Mind, Body & Besties - The Thrive Together Summit" on Mother's Day weekend. What an amazing, empowering event to be a part of! We are grateful to our friend Denise at Do Good Candles for turning us on to this awesome event!
It is nice to finally see women talking more openly about and advocating for their health....we've gone long enough being pushed into the shadows! Dr. Cassandra Taylor delivered an outstanding keynote speech on the phases of menopause (that Jennifer could have listened to all day!). One of our big takeaways from the talk was how lowering levels of estrogen leave women at much greater risk of developing osteoporosis. Dr. Taylor discussed the importance of good nutrition, including supplementing Vitamin D and Calcium) and regular exercise (ideally cardio and some weights) as ways to prevent osteoporosis.
While Jennifer was learning and being empowered, Scott was filling up on tarts and good energy at the LC Optimist Craft & Tart Festival in Petrolia.
We closed out this special weekend at the Pinery Market (where you can find us every Sunday this season!). Jennifer and her mom had a great day together enjoying the sunshine and meeting new friends.
Thank you to everyone who we have chatted with at these events. Your energy truly fills us up - you make this journey fun and uplifting!
