Being an ally is more than just accepting 2SLGBTQIA+ people as your internal, personal values. It requires action and visibility. An ally is public, intentional, and explicit (think “pie” as a way to remember) in their support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Over the last year, R&R Self-Care has reflected on what it means to be an ally and show up in support of our trans and queer friends. To that end, we have decided to serve up some “pie” this Pride. Instead of donating a portion of our monthly sales to a 2SLGBTQIA+ organization as we did last year, we’ve levelled up and are sponsoring three Pride events in Southwestern Ontario:
• Strathroy Pride in the Park – Saturday, July 4 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Alexandra Park
• Sarnia-Lambton Pridefest – Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 at Canatara Park
• CK Pridefest – Saturday, August 22 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Harvey St. and Centre St. in Chatham
We are so grateful to be welcomed into these spaces and look forward filling these three amazing weekends with joy, laughter, and friendship.
