Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of a successful year is being able to share it with those around us and we are proud to share that we have donated over $2,800 in 2025.
When we launched the business, we agreed to commit 1% of our gross annual sales to local organizations that support the LGTBQ2AI+ and Indigenous communities. As part of that commitment, we made donations of $360 each to:
• The Nest at Sarnia-Lambton Rebound
• Aamjiwnaang First Nation Food Bank
However, 2025 turned out to exceed expectations enough that we were also able to commit 5% of our gross annual sales in the months of June and September:
• $225 to Queer and Questioning Sarnia to mark Pride Month
• $250 to the Orange Shirt Society in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
But we were so overwhelmed by the support being shown to our small, humble little business, we wanted to do more! So, we launched The Giving Soap and have donated $540 in the form of unscented soap bars to the Women’s Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton (with another $540 on the way this month).
Of course, we’ve been able to make a number of in-kind donations in the form of raffle prizes and soap offcuts to the following organizations:
• Big Brothers Big Sisters Sarnia Lambton
• Huron Shores Optimist Club (Camlachie Summer Send-Off)
• Inn of the Good Shepherd
• Lambton Centennial Public School Fall Craft Sale
• Lambton Heritage Museum
• Lansdowne Public School Ojibway class Winter Solstice ribbon shirt and skirt fundraiser
• Mooretown Lady Flags Girls Hockey Association’s “Day of Games”
• Lambton Central Petrolia Optimist Club
• Sarnia Lambton Rebound – The Nest
While these felt like small donations along the way, they all add up and it feels good to know that we have been able to support these wonderful organizations in the important work they do in our community. Honestly, this makes all the early mornings, late nights, and set up and tear downs in all kinds of crazy weather worth it! Thank YOU, dear hummingbirds, for enabling us to have this impact in our community. Together, we can achieve great things.
