Honouring Pride Month

Happy Pride, everyone!

Now, more than ever, celebrating the contributions of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and joining voices to advocate for equality and respect is so important. If you look around, you can see evidence of all the progress that has been made by the community over the years, but you can also see the dangerous rhetoric and hate that threaten that progress. This is not ok.

To be clear, R&R Self-Care is a safe space. We believe in respect, kindness, acceptance, empathy and love. Trans people have always existed, love is love and we will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the 2SLGBTQ+ community. That's why, when we started this business, we pledged to donate 1% of our annual gross income to 2SLGBTQ+ (and Indigenous) organizations each year. But to mark Pride Month, we've pledged an additional 5% of our gross sales from the month of June to Queer and Questioning Sarnia.

Jennifer first met Beth, the group's co-founder, at a 2023 Plympton-Wyoming Council meeting where Councillor John van Klaverin had brought forward a resolution opposing an NDP private member's bill that would create a committee to advise the health minister on improving access to gender-affirming care and transition-related procedures. While the resolution ultimately failed (yay!), Beth's impressive presence remained and, in a bit of a fangirl move, Jennifer started following Beth on Instagram which has brought us present day where we are honoured to help this new group grow continue to create safe spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ community in Sarnia-Lambton.

We are grateful for the work that continues to happen and we remain committed to doing the work we can and need to do.

In the spirit of peace and friendship, we honour the Anishinaabek of the Three Fires Confederacy on whose territory we live and work. This means that we recognize that we all have a responsibility to treat the environment and each other with kindness and respect. For R&R Self-Care, we pledge to operate in a manner that considers the next seven generations.
