An encounter with a hummingbird

We enjoyed our introduction to Chatham-Kent at Retrofest May 23 and 24 in Chatham's Tecumseh Park. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and chatted with us - we loved every minute. For me (Jennifer), it was awesome to run into some familiar faces from my time working at CKSY/CFCO and The Rock. I truly felt like I was back at home.

However, there is one experience that stood out for us that is worth sharing as it exemplifies the concept of "being a hummingbird".

Scott met a lovely young person on the Friday. They shared a great conversation and they were interested in purchasing one of our products for a family member and said they would return the next day. When they returned, their energy was palpable - a friendly and kind spirit, definitely one of "our people". And then it happened - the encounter with the hummingbird. They shared with us that their friend had taken one of our lip balms the day before without paying for it. They had noticed it when the returned home and questioned their friend about it and insisted they return it to us. However, understandably, their friend felt bad for not paying for the lip balm and was too embarrassed to return. But not our fellow hummingbird - they returned and offered to pay for the lip balm and apologized for their friend's behaviour.

We were so heartened by this gesture - the thoughtfulness, the honesty, and the courage - we recognized our fellow hummingbird in an instant! Thank you for being an awesome human. And to all the other hummingbirds doing the best they can every day, we see you and we appreciate you.
